End of the War Party

By Linda Law

I am going to add some photos and would love to hear from anyone who recognises someone.  I was born in 1947 and these are my parents photos - their names are Norah (Buck) and Stanley (known as Wally) Lowman.  I lived in Daventry Street from 1947 until 1962.

I remember Daventry Street well as I used to go to Ted's Off Licence to get my nan her Guinness.  I remember Linda Lowman and her brother Stanley as he was in my class at Cosway Street School. I have a class photo from 1960 and Stanley is in it. My dad Harry Lee who, was a postman, knew Wally Lowman who I believe was also a postman. I lived in Boyton Place which was demolished in the late 1950s to make way for Rutherford School. We moved to Sheringham House in Lisson Street where I lived until 1969.

What lovely photos. We lived at 31 Daventry Street from birth 1957 until we moved to Kent in 1968.  My late mum loved what she called her rooms.

I attended Cosway School until it was pulled down then attended Gateway School.

Sixth photo down I recognise from the right-my dad Cousin Reine, Aunt Rita, Aunt Lil and my nan Sophia Southam

My dad is there just in front of my nan, George Southam and his brother Roy.

Seventh photo down is my great gran holding what looks like a broom. My family and I lived in this street from birth to 1968

OMG my parents are now in their late 80s and come from the area, John Wall and Jo Pearce. I was born in 1959 and moved from Miles Buildings when i was 11. I recall hearing them talk about the above names . How happy they will be to see these pictures.

I love looking at the old pictures sitting here remembering all the good times we had as children. Remembering my brother Steven Southam who passed away 12th September 2015.

If only we could turn back the clock. My brother Steven Southam sadly passed away September 2015. I have  many childhood memories of Daventry Street.

I recognise my Nan in photo 14 second from left. Her name was Dorothy Sumpter. Her daughter, my mum, Gladys was married to Ernie Reynolds. Her brother Fred and her twin sisters Joan and Jean lived there. I lived there from 1952 to 1956. I'm not sure but in photo 2 I think the lady at the top of the stairs is Joan French who married my Uncle Fred and they lived in the flats at the top of Daventry Street, I think Lisson Grove.
