Residents who have lived in the Church Street area for some years may remember the days of Jordan ’s Department Store , Murray ’s the butcher or Giljay’s Records. Church Street has a history of thriving shops selling a range of items including antique furniture and jewellery, cloth from around the world as well as jellied eels and pie and mash.
