Oral History

History is everywhere, in every town and in every country. We have so many ways to record time past, but many neglect the ordinary person who may have the richest story of all.

Oral history provides us with a unique view of our history – a history of everyone, a living memory recorded which cannot be erased by time. It fills the gaps and allows memories of ethnic minorities, elderly and disabled to name but a few that history books may forget.

Through the Church Street memories project we have attempted to record some of your memories of Church Street so we can capture this vibrant area at time of so many changes

If you are interested in having your history recorded please contact Patricia or Georgina at
